Hot Rod Wiring Detailed

Books, Books, Books

As promised, Into the Skin and Hot Rod Wiring will begin to ship this week, so our legions of fans will have their books shortly.

Weather Update
The cool weather I described recently is a thing of the past, at least this week. It’s at least 75 degrees out there today and predictions are for more of the same. So the new electric vest rests in the bottom of the saddle bag while I ride in my jean jacket - or no jacket at all.

The cool weather is sure to return, however. With it comes the seasonal chores like putting away the deck chairs and changing oil on the bike for the last time until next year. The only really good thing I can think about that comes along with the cold temperatures, are the new opportunities to work on garage projects. At the top of that list is the long-suffering Henry J, waiting patiently for more necessities like brakes and wiring.

Brakes are first in my book. I mean, what’s the point of starting a car that you can drive, because you can’t stop the damned thing. So late last week I called Yogi’s in Iowa, and ordered almost four hundred bucks worth of good stuff. Things like a brake pedal support assembly, master cylinder, power booster, and flexible hoses for the front calipers. I’m thinking that project will keep me out of the bars for a minimum of a month, and to be honest, I’m looking forward to those peaceful Tuesday and Wednesday evenings in the shop, with some old rock ‘n roll for company and a warm cup of coffee or tea to give me strength. If I can finish the brakes, I can actually put the front clip back on, which means I can begin to worry about things like the already-mentioned wiring, and the cooling system.

Like everything else, the dreaded cold weather does have at least one silver lining.

Waiting patiently like far too many old and neglected vehicles, the J Bird is soon to receive brakes! Followed by the reinstallation of the front clip so it looks like a car again.
